Humans Fall Flat Adventure is a platforming, physics-based game in which your goal is to solve puzzles and get your minimalist main character, Bob, through the open world.

The game is fun and goofy, coming with a sense of charm. You play as the main character, named Bob, and your goal is to solve puzzles by having Bob climb up levels, grab environmental features, and move to the end of each level. The game demands creativity from players, as there is no one solution, and players can use a variety of techniques and tricks to beat each level and each puzzle. In this sense, the game is highly replayable. Combine that with its natural humor and comedic animations, and you've got a game that will keep you engaged and coming back.

Like most game's of this type, the game comes with a strong sense of progression. Puzzles start easy, and the first couple of levels are essentially tutorials. However, as you advance, the challenge increases, forcing you to incorporate new strategies and obstacles into your gameplay.

The animation style is unique and creative. It can certainly take some time to get used to, but by the time you finish, you'll see the simple backgrounds and minimalist characters in your head. However, if you don't like the way Bob looks, you can change it. Indeed, to the game's credit, it goes beyond the standard features when it comes to characterization. In addition to its extensive gameplay options, there is also a character editor, allowing you to customize the character to meet your needs.

Speaking of the way the game looks: There are no textures. This can be disorienting at first, but eventually, it becomes clear that this wasn't because of a lack of work, but a stylistic choice. You find this out very quickly as the game advances, namely because of the way that backgrounds constantly change. Levels vary wildly, putting you from scene to scene and generally ensuring that you have a wide range of experiences when playing the game.

The game, which first came out in 2016, is available on virtually every system, including Steam, XBox, PlayStation 4, Switch, iOS, Android, and more. The Steam version of the game can be purchased for $14.99. The game has sold extremely well, with over five million copies having been downloaded.

Pros:

  • The game comes with a degree of cuteness, comedy, and charm that keeps users coming back.
  • The open-nature type of the game ensures that players will have a truly hard time getting bored. It is highly replayable.
  • The game comes with a good sense of progression, slowly ramping up the challenges as you play for longer periods.
  • The range of levels is very impressive, and even more so when you consider that the game was just developed by one developer, Tomas Sakalauskas, who started work on the project in 2012.
  • As a variety of Let's Play videos have demonstrated, the game is funny and goofy.

Cons:

  • Gameplay can sometimes be frustrating and annoying. Some reviewers noted that completing a level often had less to do with skill and more to do with luck.
  • The game is nearly five years old and still costs $15. Some would argue that it is too expensive at this point.
